SECRET SQUIRREL
Here's Hanna-Barbera's super-spy, SECRET SQUIRREL. The color piece is something I did for fun. The black and white art, which features SECRET's sidekick MOROCCO MOLE, is my brush inking over Mike Fontanelli's pencils. Mike and I created the art as supplements to the SECRET SQUIRREL style guide at Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

MAGILLA GORILLA
Recently, I was looking through the 1965 Whitman Tell-a-Tale book, MAGILLA GORILLA TAKES A BANANA HOLIDAY. I thought it would be fun to re-create one of the book's MAGILLA color painted images as a black and white piece. This 8 1/2" x 11" MAGILLA GORILLA original art is brush, pen and ink on duralene with white opaque watercolor...and available to own! Click on MAGILLA for a larger view! THE IMPOSSIBLES - CUSTOM FIGURES
I was recently commissioned by MARCELO GUERRO of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to do some work for him. Marcelo is a terrific caricaturist, and a fan of Hanna-Barbera's THE IMPOSSIBLES. He sent me the above photos of his custom-made figure sets of THE IMPOSSIBLES...as the rock group, and as super heroes! I'd love to see figures like this produced here in the States by a licensee and Warner Bros. Consumer Products. Be sure to check out Marcelo's caricature website by clicking here. As always, click on the photos for a larger view!

SPUMCO COMIC BOOK LETTERING SAMPLES
Click on my CARTOON ART PORTFOLIO link in my LINKS section to see the lettering samples that I just posted. Most of my lettering samples are pages from SPUMCO COMIC BOOK. Some of the pages were never published, including the two JIMMY THE IDIOT BOY pages I've posted above. It was great working on SPUMCO COMIC BOOK with John Kricfalusi, Jim Smith, Vincent Waller, Mike Fontanelli, Shane Glines and other Spumco Big Shot Hollywood Cartoonists! I would love to see John K's SPUMCO COMIC BOOK published again. Click on each image for a larger view!

THE IMPOSSIBLES
I was talking today with someone about a project that could involve HANNA-BARBERA's THE IMPOSSIBLES. I'll be able to elaborate on the project at a later date. So I thought I'd post this art from my HANNA-BARBERA art file. Here's FLUID MAN, COIL MAN and MULTI MAN! Each piece was created using colored pencils with brush & ink on canary yellow textured paper. Click on each image for a larger view! RALLY-HO!

JUST A REMINDER -- HANNA-BARBERA CARTOON TITLE CARD SET & ORIGINAL ART TO OWN!
I've posted about this before, but I want to remind everyone that I still have a few sets of the HANNA-BARBERA classic cartoon title card set available. They're a really nice 14-piece set of bright color copies featuring some of the all-time great classic HANNA-BARBERA TV cartoon friends! Each title card measures 8 1/2" x 11" and look sensational when displayed. Also...I have the above original art featuring all of the HANNA-BARBERA "animal" characters from 1958 through 1965. The art measures 18" x 24" and is brush, pen & ink with white opaque watercolor on bristol board. The classic HANNA-BARBERA logo is hand-lettered. I could even re-create the art for you at 16" x 20", if you wish. Be sure to click on each image for a larger view! Most of the art you see posted on my blog is available to own. I can also create something for you. Let me know what you're interested in. Check out more of my art in my portfolio by clicking on its link in my LINKS section. E-mail me at powsley@flash.net. PIXIE AND DIXIE and MR. JINKS - TV PALS
Here's those HANNA-BARBERA TV cartoon meeces, PIXIE AND DIXIE, along with MR. JINKS. The top image is from the PIXIE AND DIXIE and MR. JINKS style guide that I helped create at Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The characters were penciled by talented HANNA-BARBERA artist, Mark Christiansen, then inked by me with a brush. The coloring was done by one of the designers at WBCP. I'm also showing a scan of PIXIE AND DIXIE and MR. JINKS No. 1, published by Gold Key in 1962. Click on each image for a larger view!

MISER BROS. PRESS & RECORDS
My good friend, RANKIN/BASS Historian and Biographer RICK GOLDSCHMIDT, has a new CD of his music coming out soon. The title of the CD is RICK GOLDSCHMIDT SINGS - UNPLUGGED. You can see the CD's cover on Rick's RANKIN/BASS blog by clicking HERE. I did the above MISER BROS. PRESS logo for Rick a few years ago. It's the publishing imprint for Rick's RANKIN/BASS books, THE ENCHANTED WORLD OF RANKIN/BASS and THE MAKING OF RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER. I also did a revision of the logo for Rick's CD projects...MISER BROS. RECORDS. I used the early RANKIN/BASS TV character, PINOCCHIO, in both logos. I'll have to get a scan of the MISER BROS. RECORDS logo and post it here soon. Rick's previous CDs, RICK GOLDSCHMIDT SINGS and RICK GOLDSCHMIDT SINGS AGAIN, are available directly from Rick...e-mail him at rickgoldsc@aol.com. Be sure to bookmark his RANKIN/BASS blog and visit often! Rick also has his RANKIN/BASS books and many rare archival RANKIN/BASS CDs and DVDs currently available. TOP CAT - 1962 HANNA-BARBERA TV ALLEY CAT PALS!
Today while working, I had on the DVD set of the classic 1962 Hanna-Barbera cartoon TV series, TOP CAT. I love the series, so I thought I'd post some TOP CAT art. Here's the leader of the gang, TOP CAT with BENNY THE BALL, CHOO-CHOO, SPOOK, BRAIN, FANCY FANCY and OFFICER DIBBLE. The top image of TOP CAT (based on a TOP CAT style guide pose) and the bottom image of OFFICER DIBBLE were done by me. Both pieces are markers, colored pencil, brush & ink on coquille board. I inked the character art of CHOO-CHOO, SPOOK, BRAIN and FANCY FANCY for the TOP CAT style guide for Warner Bros. Consumer Products. I believe these were penciled by Mark Christiansen, then colored by one of the WBCP designers. Click on each image for a larger view! E-mail me at powsley@flash.net. Thanks! -- Patrick Owsley
