PEBBLES & BAMM-BAMM licensing art

A few of the 1965 Hanna-Barbera safety signs that I've recently posted have featured PEBBLES & BAMM-BAMM from THE FLINTSTONES. One of the last projects that I worked on while on-staff at Warner Bros. Consumer Products was a style guide of PEBBLES & BAMM-BAMM character art. The style guide was called "Cave Kids" (not to be confused with the 1960s Hanna-Barbera Gold Key comic book series or the Little Golden Book of the same title). I inked the entire style guide, which consisted of approximately 60 character poses. The style guide also featured DINO and BABY PUSS. All of the character art was penciled by the very talented Mark Christiansen. I inked Mark's pencil art with brush & ink on duralene. 1965 HANNA-BARBERA SAFETY SIGNS - Part 1

Perhaps all of the Hanna-Barbera afficionados out there have seen these 1965 Hanna-Barbera safety signs, but I wanted to post them for everyone else to see just how cool they are. I'm not exactly sure who illustrated the safety signs. Does anyone know? There were 36 safety signs produced...here's the first three. I'll be posting three H-B safety signs each day on my blog. FELIX THE CAT - DVD packaging art

I just finished the character art that is appearing on the packaging for a new FELIX THE CAT DVD. Classic Media is producing the DVD which will feature the 1958 - 1959 TV adventures of FELIX. Here's a few more photos from the March 23 GEORGE BARRIS street naming event. It was nice that BATMAN, ROBIN, BATGIRL and CATWOMAN attended the ceremony! Also in attendance was BO DEREK, PATRICK WAYNE, ERIK ESTRADA, voice-over actor WALLY WINGERT and BUTCH "Eddie Munster" PATRICK. BUTCH was kind enough to pose for a photo with me, which I've posted. KNBC's FRITZ COLEMAN was Master of Ceremonies. MARK LONDON, a terrific graphic designer and friend (Brian Wilson, Hal Lifson's 1966 book), was also there. GEORGE BARRIS street naming event photos!

Here's a few photos from the George Barris street naming event. The event took place March 23 at Barris Kustom City in North Hollywood, CA. A small side street next to the Barris shop was renamed George Barris Place. It was great to see Mr. Barris recognized for his sensational work in the entertainment industry! Some of the "kustom" cars that George Barris built include the 1966 TV BATMOBILE...THE MUNSTERS KOACH...THE STARSKY & HUTCH Gran Torino and he collaborated with Dean Jeffries on THE MONKEEMOBILE. DASTARDLY & MUTTLEY video game cover art

Here's the cover art for a new soon-to-be-released DASTARDLY & MUTTLEY video game. The game is being produced by Blast Entertainment in the U.K. Thanks to David Cohen at Warner Bros. and Joanne Wenn at Blast Entertainment for the fun job! I pencilled and inked the art, then did the color design. The art was colored by Jeff Victor. Thanks, Jeff! I had to leave plenty of room in the top and bottom areas for the "DASTARDLY & MUTTLEY Operation: Pigeon Pursuit" logo, the Blast Entertainment logo, rating boxes and the WB shield. BACK FROM OUR HONEYMOON!

Leslie and I are back from our honeymoon! In the top photo, we're boarding our cruise ship in Los Angeles on March 5. We sailed aboard Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas to Ensenada, Mexico with stops in San Diego and Catalina Island. Leslie and I had a great time! The bottom photo is us at dinner during the ship's formal evening.

Here's a piece from 1998. I took one of the many sensational pieces of black and white FLINTSTONES character art by the great designer, Craig Kellman, and gave it some color. It's done with markers and colored pencils on marker paper. I'll be back at the end of this week with another post. Click on the image for a larger view!
