THE STONE AGE GANG - 1965 HANNA-BARBERA PRESENTATION ART

It's been just over a week since my last posting. I've been really busy working on a music-related project that I can't discuss or post any art from yet. I will do that later.
Here's a piece of 1965 presentation art for the HANNA-BARBERA production, THE STONE AGE GANG. The show never did go into production, but it looks like the concept did evolve into the HANNA-BARBERA Gold Key comic book series, THE CAVE KIDS. Click on the image for a larger view! THE JAGUARS - 1965 HANNA-BARBERA PRESENTATION ART

I've been getting a really good response to the recent postings of HANNA-BARBERA presentation art. So, what's next? How about this 1965 presentation piece for THE JAGUARS? We never saw THE JAGUARS go into production, but maybe the rock group concept carried over to the development of THE IMPOSSIBLES. Looks like both may have been in development around the same time. DAN'L BONE - HANNA-BARBERA PRESENTATION ART

I'm not sure what year this presentation art is from, but it's for a proposed character named DAN'L BONE. Though the DAN'L BONE series never made it to production, it looks like it could have been another hit TV series for HANNA-BARBERA. From the looks of the second presentation board, it appears the show may have involved time travel. Great looking character and art! Be sure to click on each image for a larger view! ATOM ANT - 1964 PRESENTATION ART

The other day, I received an e-mail from blog reader Dom Giansante of Forest Grove, OR. Dom wrote, "Those presentation boards are so fun!!! I love seeing character designs of my favorite characters - before they became how we know them now!! Keep them coming!! I am fascinated!" Dom is speaking of my recent postings of HANNA-BARBERA presentation art. Without hesitation, here's 1964 presentation art for ATOM ANT! I'm also posting a 1965 ATOM ANT title card for "Ferocious Flea", showing you the character's transition from concept to TV screen. Click on each image to enlarge! E-mail me at powsley@flash.net . SECRET SQUIRREL - 1964 PRESENTATION ART

The other day, I posted presentation art for Hanna-Barbera's FRANKENSTEIN JR.. Here's another great vintage piece from my HANNA-BARBERA reference file. It's 1965 presentation art for SECRET SQUIRREL and MOROCCO MOLE. SECRET and MOROCCO ended up looking quite differently when their cartoons went into production. I'm also posting a 1965 SECRET SQUIRREL & MORROCO MOLE cartoon title card for "Yellow Pinkie" and a piece of SECRET SQUIRREL character art that I did a few years ago. You can really see how the characters evolved. Even the spelling of MORROCO was different from the presentation art to the title card. I've got more classic HANNA-BARBERA presentation art that I'll be posting soon. Keep checking back! Be sure to click on each image for a larger view! You can e-mail me at powsley@flash.net . HOME RUN KING!

Congratulations to BARRY BONDS of the San Francisco Giants on becoming Major League Baseball's all-time home run leader. BONDS hit home run #756 tonight off of MIKE BACSIK of the WASHINGTON NATIONALS. BONDS broke the previous home run record of 755 held by HANK AARON, by hitting the historic home run at Pac Bell Park in San Francisco. Although BONDS may now have hit the most home runs in Major League Baseball history, HANK AARON is the real HOME RUN KING! I've posted a 2003 Topps Fan Favorite reproduction of a HANK AARON 1975 baseball card.

FRANKENSTEIN JR. - 1965 PRESENTATION ART

Here's something from my Hanna-Barbera reference files that I'm sure you'll enjoy. It's a 1966 presentation board for one of my favorite Hanna-Barbera super TV heroes, FRANKENSTEIN JR.! I'm also posting another 1966 presentation board of proposed Hanna-Barbera villains. These look like villains for THE IMPOSSIBLES. Be sure to click on each image for a larger view!

PATRICK OWSLEY to work with ARCHIE COMICS!

I recently signed the Independent Contractor's Agreement that was sent to me by ARCHIE COMICS. I'll be doing hand-lettering for ARCHIE digest stories. I want to thank Archie Editor, Mike Pellerito, for the work!
Yesterday, the 1968 Saturday morning CBS-TV series, THE ARCHIE SHOW, was released on a 2-disc DVD set. The series was produced by FILMATION and it's a lot of fun to watch. The series featured great bubble gum rock by THE ARCHIES with front man, RON DANTE. I'm posting a 45 single of THE ARCHIES that I had signed by RON DANTE. I've also posted the cover and first page of EVERYTHING'S ARCHIE No. 1 from 1969. THE ARCHIE SHOW DVD set includes a reproduction of this comic book story where ARCHIE, JUGHEAD, BETTY, VERONICA and REGGIE visit the FILMATION studio and meet NORM PRESCOTT, HAL SUTHERLAND and LOU SCHEIMER.
