Tonight is DATE NITE at DISNEYLAND for Leslie and I! We'll also be checking out our favorite attractions in NEW ORLEANS SQUARE...Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion.
Here's a couple of more classic photos from WGN-TV Chicago's BOZO's CIRCUS! Both photos are from the late 1960s and feature BOZO (Bob Bell) and OLIVER O. OLIVER (Ray Rayner).
Good luck to JOHN K. with his current HE HOG project!
I saw LINDA KAYE HENNING today at her Studio City, CA boutique. We chatted for a while and I told her how much I really enjoyed her work and her father's work! Her father is PAUL HENNING...legendary TV producer of PETTICOAT JUNCTION, THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES and GREEN ACRES. Linda Kaye played red-headed daughter Betty Jo Bradley on Petticoat Junction and provided the voice for Jethrine Bodine on The Beverly Hillbillies. Linda Kaye was very nice and a pleasure to meet! From my collection...below is PETTICOAT JUNCTION #2 from 1965.
Here's something for blog readers who grew up in the Chicago area during the 1960s and 1970s...just like me. As the studio audience would file out of the studio after seeing BOZO's CIRCUS live at WGN-TV, BOZO and other cast members would pose for photos with kids that were there at the show that day. Here's a great photo of BOZO (Bob Bell in center), OLIVER O. OLIVER (Ray Rayner on left) and SANDY (Don Sandburg on right) with a group of lucky kids! The photo is dated November 1967. What a great era of Chicago kids television!
Love these behind-the-scenes Bat-photos! You can see more at the terrific blog of my pal, artist AL BIGLEY!
Congratulations to ANDRE DAWSON on his recent induction into Major League Baseball's Hall of Fame!
Enjoy the above 1960s animation layout drawing featuring BILL HANNA and JOE BARBERA!
My brush inking of HANNA and BARBERA caricatures!
This is one of my favorite ALEX ROSS paintings...featuring the classic style ROBIN!
Here's another DC Comics "go-go checks" cover from my collection. This is the very first issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA that I remember having when I was little...#51 from 1967!
Not sure what year this cartoon painting was produced, but it sure is cool! I do know it was created for a LAUREL AND HARDY puzzle...most likely from Whitman.
About two years ago, I posted this comic book advertisement for the BIG FRANKIE plastic model kit from Aurora. Below are a few actual photos of the model kit built and painted.
Getting quite a few requests for UNDERDOG original art and commissions! Thank you! E-mail me at powsley@flash.net.
I always did enjoy Hanna-Barbera's THE THREE MUSKETEERS! One of the many great Hanna-Barbera adventure cartoons! The series was shown as a segment on THE BANANA SPLITS, and featured terrific character designs by ALEX TOTH.
Love this 1960s photo of THE THREE STOOGES!
Here's the cover to the April 7 - 13 1973 TV GUIDE. This issue's cover story talked about the then-current Saturday morning TV shows. I really remember watching Saturday morning television at this time...Krofft's H.R. PUFNSTUF, Rankin/Bass' THE JACKSON 5, THE BARKLEYS, Filmation's SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH, THE BRADY KIDS and more.
Yesterday was the 55th anniversary of the opening of DISNEYLAND! I love the PRIMEVAL WORLD exhibit...you'll see it only if you're riding the Disneyland Railroad. Leslie and I will be checking it out again very soon. Happy (belated) 55th Birthday to Disneyland!
Over the years, I've heard many people say that they didn't like the go-go-check design element that DC Comics was putting across the tops of their comic covers during 1966 through 1967. I loved it! This is my favorite era of DC Comics! From my collection, here's GREEN LANTERN #49 from 1966. I'll have to post more go-go checked DC covers soon.
Making characters colorful adds so much to the characters' overall appeal!

These issues of DETECTIVE COMICS were published at the time YVONNE CRAIG was playing BATGIRL on the 1960s BATMAN TV series. From my collection...above is issue #359 from 1967. Below are issues #363 from 1967 and 1968's issue #371.
Leslie and I are heading out to see the CUBS vs. DODGERS game today at Dodger Stadium! Go CUBS! Enjoy these 1967 CUBS and DODGERS scorecard covers!
