It was 54 years ago today that DISNEYLAND officially opened...July 17, 1955! Happy Birthday DISNEYLAND! Leslie and I will definitely be making another visit to the "Happiest Place on Earth" very soon! DALLAS McKENNON passed away this morning at the age of 89. McKENNON was probably best known as the voice of ARCHIE ANDREWS for Filmation's, THE ARCHIE SHOW. He was also the voice of GUMBY and BUZZ BUZZARD (Woody Woodpecker).

Blog viewers who grew up in the Chicago area during the 1960s and 1970s will remember ROMBERG RABBIT! ROMBERG RABBIT was seen on WGN-TV's, GARFIELD GOOSE AND FRIENDS (hosted by FRAZIER THOMAS). This is a color sketch I did a few years ago. Below is a 1970s GARFIELD GOOSE AND FRIENDS postcard. The show's puppeteer, ROY BROWN, did the artwork. BROWN was also COOKY on WGN-TV's, BOZO's CIRCUS.
It's July 11th...happy 7-11 to everyone! Hope you're having a great weekend. We didn't have the 7-11 convenient stores in Northwest Indiana (Michigan City, to be exact) when I was growing up. I remember stopping at 7-11 stores while on family vacation car trips to the East coast and Southeast, and buying comic books to read in the car. That's what I'm reminded of when I see a 7-11 store today here in the Los Angeles area. A happy memory.

Looks like the contents list is incorrect, as the SPACE GHOST and HERCULOIDS episodes listed for the 1960s Vol. 2 set, are already included on the 1960s Vol. 1 set. I'm sure both content lists are nowhere near finalized. Anyway...looking forward to these sets!

Looking forward to this one! It's the new MAD MONSTER PARTY Special Edition DVD. The DVD will be released later this year on September 8. It's currently available for pre-order on Amazon for $10.49. Rankin/Bass Historian and Biographer, RICK GOLDSCHMIDT, tells me that the new MAD MONSTER PARTY documentary on this edition is well worth that alone! The documentary includes interviews with GOLDSCHMIDT, ARTHUR RANKIN, JR., voice artist ALLEN SWIFT, storyboard artist DON DUGA, musical director MAURY LAWS and others. Great to see the RANKIN/BASS name on the DVD's cover!
