Hi Patrick, I saw this special when it first aired in 1966. My Dad was good enough to record the sound on the reel to reel so my sister and I could listen to it whenever we wanted after that. It seems to have never aired again nationally after that, and for many years I only had the benefit of that tape recorded soundtrack to remind me of what a fun special it was.
Then, sometime in the 80s I happened to be glancing through the TV Guide and saw "Alice in Wonderland" listed on some local channel in a one hour time slot. Could it be the H-B version? Now, with my own VCR, I stood by waiting to record it and, lo and behold, it was that H-B special that I'd long hoped to see again!
A couple years ago I decided to transfer that VHS tape onto a DVD for posterity. I still love it, hokey dialogue and all. The songs are a lot of fun and very tuneful. The highlights for me are Sammy Davis Jr. as the hep beatnik Cheshire Cat, as well as Fred and Barney as the two connected ends of a caterpillar costume. Great fun - I wish it would get a proper DVD release!
By the way, this is my first time posting a comment on here, but I just want you to know how much I enjoy your work as well!

Thanks for your comments, Pete. You're a terrific talent...I love your work! I, too, wish the special would get an official DVD release.
BOOMERANG has aired this a handful of times over the years.
I love it as Janet Waldo does the voice of Alice - Janet is my favorite all time female animated and radio voice artist.
