NEW SKETCHBOOK ART -- ARCHIE!

ARCHIE LETTERING...BY HAND!

My hand-lettering for Archie Comics!  8^)

ARCHIE FOR PRESIDENT!

I know who I'm voting for in November! 8^)

THE ARCHIES!

Just added this ARCHIES record to my collection. The record was cut out from a Post cereal box about 1970. Love the artwork used on the record! 8^)

Leslie and I hope everyone is having a safe Memorial Day! Below is a KATY KEENE Memorial Day cover by my pal and Katy Keene artist, John Lucas.

ARCHIE COMICS TO REVIVE KATY KEENE!

I heard this morning that ARCHIE COMICS is reviving KATY KEENE. One thing's for sure...when ARCHIE COMICS brings back KATY KEENE, they've got to bring back my pal, JOHN LUCAS, to do the art! JOHN breathes life into the characters and his true admiration for KATY KEENE really shines through in his art! Above is one of JOHN's covers from his run as artist on the KATY KEENE comic book series from 1983-1991. JOHN LUCAS also created art for the KATY KEENE FAN MAGAZINE (1979-1984), and for KATY KEENE PAPER DOLL BOOKS from Hobby House Press (1995-2005). You can read more about ARCHIE's revival plans right HERE! Not only is JOHN LUCAS a terrific artist, he's also from my hometown of Michigan City, IN! Look for JOHN LUCAS on Facebook (under JOHN STERLING LUCAS)!

ARCHIE LETTERING!

Glad to be back working with ARCHIE COMICS! I'm currently lettering digest stories for ARCHIE and VERONICA. Thanks to Editor Stephen Oswald for the work!

ARCHIE PAPER DOLLS BOX - 1969

Terrific design on this Whitman ARCHIE PAPER DOLLS box from 1969!

HENRY SCARPELLI

Veteran cartoonist HENRY SCARPELLI has passed away at the age of 79. I really enjoyed SCARPELLI's work for ARCHIE COMICS and his work on DC's SWING WITH SCOOTER, but my favorite is the ABBOTT & COSTELLO comic book work he did for Charlton Comics. HENRY SCARPELLI is also the father of actor GLENN SCARPELLI.

SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM ARCHIE!

Today, I received this Christmas card from my pals at ARCHIE COMICS.

KERRY & ROLLY STAGE BANNER

I recently completed this stage banner art for musicians, KERRY GETZ and ROLLY DeVORE. KERRY and ROLLY wanted something close to an ARCHIE COMICS style. Thanks, Kerry & Rolly...for the fun project! Also...thanks to Dom Giansante for his assistance!

THE ARCHIES IN BEVERLY HILLS

The latest issue of ARCHIE DIGEST features a cover story by my pal, pop culture historian and entertainment gossip columnist, HAL LIFSON. The story also features terrific art by REX LINDSEY. Go out and pick up ARCHIE DIGEST #250 and read, "THE ARCHIES IN BEVERLY HILLS"! Be sure to scroll down to my LINKS section (it'll be on the right) and click on the HAL LIFSON and ARCHIE COMICS website links!

GET OUT AND VOTE!

This image is from the December 1968 issue of ARCHIE AND ME! Saw this on Jerry Beck's CARTOON BREW and had to post it, as well. I remember having this SNOOPY FOR PRESIDENT ruler, bookmark and cartoon guide (stencil). It's from 1972 and I was in Miss Kenyon's fourth grade class at St. Paul's School in Michigan City, IN.

BUSY WITH ARCHIE

I've been busy lettering a 22-page story for an upcoming issue of ARCHIE & FRIENDS. Thanks to ARCHIE Editor Stephen Oswald for the lettering assignment! Click on the photo for a larger view!
