One of my clients is CLASSIC MEDIA in New York. CLASSIC MEDIA owns some of the all-time great classic cartoon characters. They are ROCKY & BULLWINKLE, UNDERDOG, CASPER THE FRIENDLY GHOST, GERALD McBOING BOING, ROGER RAMJET, MR. MAGOO and others! From time to time, I'll get a call from CLASSIC MEDIA's Creative Director, Tony Knight, to create an illustration of one of their sensational characters. Tony is a pleasure to work with! Here are a few of the MR. MAGOO pieces that I've done for Tony and CLASSIC MEDIA.
Wow! Patrick, this blog is fantastic and your work is beautiful, I can't tell you how many times I've seen artists draw existing characters and something is just "off" a bit, you seem to nail the classic feel of these guys (and gals) I love it! I'll be a regular here for sure, the pieces for the Hanna Barbera merch book are just stunningly done! Bravo, bravo, bravo sir!
Just finished reading about your new blog on Cartoon Brew. It looks great!
I recently saw your DVD covers for Tennessee Tuxedo and Go Go Gophers. I picked them both up at Tower, took them into a WB meeting and said: "THIS is how it should be done, people!"
(Have you seen the Looney Tunes DVDs? They look like crap by comparison. Corporate idiots are still overseeing WB home video art - those covers never came through the Art Department. Can you tell?)
Did you get married? I heard you did, congratulations! Chika, Abraham and San Wei all say "howdy"...
I'm amazed of your command of the various house styles of the many characters you've brought back to life. The Magoo designs remind me of the old Mr. Magoo newspaper strip. They have that same snap.

I am with you Mike, those covers are horrid. Jesus, the volume 4 cover is the worst yet. If I could,I would have fired the guy who did that art. Hell, I wouldn't give him a chance to clear out his desk,I whould have just thrown his crap out the window.
THANK YOU everybody! Glad you are enjoying the blog!
Hey Mike! -- Leslie and I are getting married on Nov. 18. Thanks for taking my TENN. TUXEDO and GO GO GOPHERS DVDs into the WB meeting! Yes, the packaging art and designs on the LOONEY TUNES DVD sets are really bad! Tell Chika, Abraham and San Wei I said hello!
Dave -- I looked at many of the old MAGOO newspaper strips as reference for the MAGOO art. LOVE that stuff!
